ABOUT ME
The name came from combining my surname and the word 'watts,' It mixed quite nicely and I can produce good watts (or so they tell me!) so suits. I don't think I have a favourite part of riding my bike, I know I'm not a keen punchy climber, I prefer long steady climbs but in saying that I also enjoy going fast on the flat.
I'm actually new to cycling, I spent a year using it as rehabilitation for a knee injury I acquired in rugby and a de-stress mechanism however, during the first lockdown I started training because I was bored and here we are.. a year later and kind of obsessed with a place on a race team!
I've always been sporty, growing up competing in athletics and playing rugby to a high level and in someways the strength converted to the bike but my cardio system was atrocious, leaving a lot to be desired!
I studied Sports Science at University as I'd always been involved in sport and had a great interest in the behind the scenes. I'm not sure how I'll use my degree yet, there are many areas that interest me and I enjoy furthering my knowledge in, luckily I have time (thank you Covid-19) to decide and whilst I do that, I continue to be a dog walker/animal carer which is enough therapy to keep me going!
I hope to one day live abroad with my primary focus being cycling, but we'll have to see where the world takes me. My boyfriend is also a keen cyclist and races at elite level with the hope to improve further, he's also a mechanic (my personal one) and is forever providing my bikes with funky upgrades - which I am yet to learn about but happy to share with you.
This is where I'll ramble about life and cycling among other things and I hope it provides you with a good read, extra knowledge or inspiration to do something new.
